Differentiated Instruction in Math, K-5

In this workshop, teachers will work on:

  • Understanding the three zones of learning:
    • Flow Zone
    • Groan Zone
    • Drone Zone
  • A basic understanding of differentiated instruction
  • Using Bloom’s Taxonomy and DOK to go deeper in student learning
  • “Uncovering” student myths and misconceptions of math content knowledge
  • Helping students balance success and effort
  • Ways to work on number sense and order of operations
  • Varying the process of instruction to meet diverse student needs
  • Using a “tic-tac-toe” choice board to teach at grade level standards while reaching students who are below and above grade level
