Differentiated Instruction in Math, K-5
In this workshop, teachers will work on:
- Understanding the three zones of learning:
- Flow Zone
- Groan Zone
- Drone Zone
- A basic understanding of differentiated instruction
- Using Bloom’s Taxonomy and DOK to go deeper in student learning
- “Uncovering” student myths and misconceptions of math content knowledge
- Helping students balance success and effort
- Ways to work on number sense and order of operations
- Varying the process of instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Using a “tic-tac-toe” choice board to teach at grade level standards while reaching students who are below and above grade level
